Under The Shade Safari Lodge is a small 12 rooms world-class boutique hotel with ambitions to offering super service, ambiance and cuisine in a historic facility within the outskirts of the Arusha City at Burka South area. The area is renowed for its uniqueness, warmth, quality and beauty. It has an extraordinary staff and management team. There is an overall staff of about 35 evenly divided between hotel, restaurant, bar and gardens all of whom work together to continue and improved Under The Shade.
The financial Controller is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the accounting department, such as preparation and management of the Lodge, bar and restaurant financial budgets, sales, purchases and preparation of the payroll. Implementing and overseeing all activities relating to the financial aspects of the hotel and restaurant in compliance with standards required.
Additionally, responsible for the financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital and cash control, as well as ensuring the safekeeping and updating of all legal documentation relating to the financial status of the hotel.
This is a hands-on financial position requiring flexibility and an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Responsible for the financial management and internal control of all the revenue inlets and outlets. This includes the stores, kitchen, bar restaurants, rooms etc.
Responsible for the hotel’s overall accounting and financial management.
Responsible to present the finance department during regular management meetings..
Responsible for the local tax authority compliance for the hotel.
Reconciliation of sales in all revenue outlets on a daily basis.
Recording and Retantion of daily sales for reporting to the General Manager and the Managing Director.
Production of daily sales purchases report.
Responsible in maintaining a filling system of all revenue back up for audit.
Responsible for spot check of all outlets for accuracy of prices charged and invoices or dockets.
Responsible to support and liaise with the General Manager and Managing Director, in meeting the strategic goals of the organization.
Responsible for preparing and reviewing daily budgets.
Responsible for verifying all financial reports and ensuring that all transactions are accurate and in compliance with government regulations.
Able to prepare and submits management reports in a timely manner and also ensuring delivery deadlines.
Able to effectively implement all accounting policies and procedures.
Able to ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard hotel assets.
Able to proactively assist with cost control requirements and revenue enhancement possibilities.
Able to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish the work.
Work closely with all departments in assisting with financial aspects, assisting the General Manager when needed.
Monitors all local tax compliance that applies, and ensuring that taxes are charged correctly and collected, file the local tax with the concerned authority on a monthly/regular basis.
Oversees internal, external and regulatory audit processes.
Establishes and maintans open, collaborative relationships with other employees.
